Amateur Extra Upgrade Class

The WVARA will be holding an Amateur Extra upgrade class beginning on Tuesday evening, January 30, 2024. This class prepares amateurs who currently hold a General class or Advanced class amateur radio license to upgrade to the Amateur Extra class license.

The class will be held online via Zoom on Tuesday evenings for 10 sessions. Class sessions will begin at 6:30 PM and should end no later than 9:00 PM.

To participate in the class, you will need to have a computer or a tablet that has the free Zoom application installed. The computer or tablet should have a webcam, but that is not an absolute necessity.
  • On a Windows PC, use the following link to download & install the Zoom application: https://zoom.us/support/download
  • On a Mac or tablet, look for Zoom in your App Store.
The course fee is:
WVARA Members (with textbook) $30.00
WVARA Members (no textbook) $5.00
Non-members (with textbook) $40.00
Non-members (no textbook) $15.00

The textbook will be shipped directly to you from the ARRL and should be delivered within 7-10 days. You should register at least 10 days before the class starts to ensure that you will have the book in time for the 1st class session.

The textbook used is:

  • ARRL Extra Class License Manual, 12th Edition
  • (Previous editions are obsolete and should not be used.)
